We the undersigned petition the council to Ensure that Rushey Mead Library and Rushey Mead Recreation Centre remain open and continue to provide services for the Community. These two premises provide much needed essential space and services for local people. The services are a lifeline for many people especially disabled people , socially isolated persons, the elderly and disabled , men, women young children and families. There are no other Council Community facilities in the area and so we demand that there are no cuts to the provision of these services and that both buildings should remain open and the council continue service provision without closing any of the buildings.
We do not agree with the proposal in the minutes of the
Neighbourhood services and community involvement Scrutiny committee
minutes dated 30/11/16 that merging the library within the
recreation centre is practical or feasible due to a number of
reasons. Both premises and the services they provide/offer are
necessary and essential for the Community.
