Decision details

Gypsy and Traveller Sites

Decision Maker: City Mayor (Individual Decision)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

The search for potential sites is necessary to deal with the high number of unauthorised encampments taking place in the City in recent years, an identified need for Gypsy and Traveller accommodation and to comply with Government Guidance.  Between February and July 2012, extensive public consultation was undertaken by the Council on three potential Gypsy and Traveller sites in the City.  These sites were chosen by the Council’s Executive from a shortlist of eight following an initial officer assessment of nearly 350 Council-owned sites.

An analysis of the consultation exercise and the officer recommendations arising from it is set out in the report published on 18 December 2012.
